  • Mapping the Skies: USA Independence Day Flyover Route Visualized

In the USA, Independence Day is all about tradition, community, and looking up at the sky in awe. To celebrate America’s 250th landmark anniversary, many cities are conducting flyovers along with their 4th of July celebration. This includes Mapline’s home state: Utah. Here, Hill Air Force Base’s 419th Fighter Wing and the Utah Air National Guard’s 151st Wing are taking to the skies for a massive, statewide flyover.

But when exactly should you run outside with your coffee (or, if you’re in Utah, your dirty soda) so you don’t miss the fighter jets?

USA FLYOVER ROUTES

Instead of squinting at a complex text table, we did what we do best at Mapline: we mapped it. Below is your ultimate visual guide and exact timestamp schedule to catch the jets as they race across the skies this 4th of July weekend.

The below map is interactive. Feel free to zoom in on your state, hover over the jets to see what time they’ll fly by, or click the jets to see more details about your local flyover.

Utah Flyovers

The flyover in Utah kicks off bright and early on Saturday, July 4th. While the jets are covering hundreds of miles of terrain all morning, here is the exact minute-by-minute window for the Wasatch Front stretch.

  • 8:35 a.m. – Riverdale (Old Glory Days)
  • 8:36 a.m. – West Point + Clearfield (Fourth of July Celebrations)
  • 8:37 a.m. – Kaysville (4th of July Parade)
  • 8:38 a.m. – Centerville (Freedom Festival)
  • 8:40 a.m. – Millcreek (4th of July Celebration)
  • 8:41 a.m. – Murray City (Murray Fun Days)
  • 8:43 a.m. – est. flyby over Mapline headquarters (Pleasant Grove)
  • 8:46 a.m. – Provo (America’s Freedom Festival Parade)

And the crazy part? The Utah Air Guard 151st Wing division is flying across the Wasatch Front in just 11 minutes. Be sure to get your lawn chair set up outside a few minutes beforehand; if you blink, you might miss it.

USA Flyovers

Not all states are doing a state-wide flyover for the United States’ 250th Anniversary. However, many states are conducting flybys over local Independence Day celebrations. Some states, like California and South Carolina, will do flyovers across the state.

Check your local news for more details on which aircraft you might be able to spot, and where!

How We Built It

Want to map your own local events, parades, or logistical routes? To plot this flyover path, we used Mapline’s intuitive data overlay features. By plugging in local community coordinates and coordinating them with time-stamped flight data, we transformed raw text into a clear, visual action plan.

Whether you’re routing delivery trucks or tracking fighter jets, visualizing your data makes life easier. Try building your own map for free today!
