Draw on a Map for Custom Territories and Shapes

How to Draw on a Map to Create Custom Territories

Mapline offers many ways to visualize territories – state, county, area code, zip code and plenty more. But sometimes you need a custom option, and we provide that too. If you have territories that are unique to your company and don’t quite match up to existing shapes, you can plot shapes on a map to meet your individual needs.

But there’s more! You can click on your custom shape to see a list of all the locations that are inside the shape. Then you can easily export them back to Excel to use in other analysis. This makes it super nice when you are creating sales territories and need a quick list of whose territory new customers fall.

With custom mapping software from Mapline, you can quickly draw custom territories and shapes on your map with the Draw Pad feature. Just select the shape you would like to draw on your map, such as a line, circle, square, or polygon. For circles, squares and the like, you simply click on your map to create the shape. For custom polygons, click along the edges of the custom territory you want to create, and finally click back on your original point to close the shape.
